We’re excited to share highlights from the recent Women in Construction event, held at Ipswich Town Football Club’s Portman Road on 10th December. JMS Engineers were proud to attend and support this fantastic initiative organised by Construction Anglia, which brought together over 200 women from East Anglia’s construction sector for a festive Christmas networking lunch.
Addressing the Gender Imbalance in Construction
The construction industry has long struggled with a significant gender imbalance. Events like Women in Construction Anglia are helping to change that narrative by showcasing female role models across all levels of the sector, connecting industry professionals with aspiring talent, and highlighting the diverse opportunities available to women in construction.
Highlights of the Day
One of the standout moments was a panel discussion featuring students from West Suffolk College. The panel explored apprenticeships, which are a crucial pathway for nurturing the next generation of female engineers and construction professionals.
Adding a festive twist, attendees participated in a creative challenge to construct Christmas trees using lolly sticks and blue tack. JMS Engineers’ very own Ellie and Angela were part of the winning team, demonstrating exceptional creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills – values at the heart of our company.
