JMS joins forces with Davidsons Homes to support Matt Hampson Foundation

Matt Hampson Foundation

Building work has now started on two new accommodation units at Matt Hampson Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre, in Burrow-on-the-Hill, near Melton Mowbray.

The foundation provides advice, support, relief and treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability, arising from any cause, but in particular from participation in any sport or other form of physical education or recreation.

We are proud to announce that the JMS Midlands team have collaborated with Davidsons Homes to build the units, where people affected by life-changing injuries can make use of the rehabilitation facilities, meet fellow beneficiaries and relax in peaceful surroundings. The project is set to be completed Spring/Summer 2021.

The new blocks will offer sportsmen and women much-needed overnight accommodation, turning the centre into a destination for newly injured athletes and their families, offering them space and support to adjust to their new circumstances.

Leicestershire-based housebuilder Davidsons Homes is lending its support to the project alongside JMS, where we are providing the calculations for the structure and using our specialist modelling software to design the foundations.

JMS Director for the Midlands said: “We are proud to be partnering with Davidson Homes and the Matt Hampson Foundation, a charity that has such passion for improving the lives of injured sports men and women. It is a privilege to support the practical and progressive work the organisation undertakes.”

Tom Croft, Land Manager for Davidsons Homes and former Leicester Tigers player and British and Irish Lion, is an ambassador for the Matt Hampson Foundation.

Tom said: “In my role as ambassador, I have seen first-hand the incredible work that the Matt Hampson Foundation carries out, so when I heard about the building work needed at Leicestershire’s Get Busy Living Centre I passed the opportunity straight onto my colleagues at Davidsons Homes.

“They felt as passionately as me that we wanted to help provide these overnight accommodation units for sportspeople, to support them in this way so that they could focus on their own rehabilitation.

“We’re absolutely delighted to work alongside JMS Group to deliver this project, which will improve the lives of so many.”

Matt Hampson, a former under-21 England Rugby star, was involved in a sporting accident in 2005. Paralysed from the neck down, Matt has worked hard to live a normal life. He set up the Matt Hampson Foundation in 2010.
