We’re delighted to announce that JMS Midlands have made the finals in three categories at this year’s ProCon awards. The ProCons are the Leicestershire construction industry’s most prestigious and well-respected awards, and the team are proud to get this level of recognition in a year filled with so many incredible construction projects across the county.
JMS Midlands have two different projects shortlisted for the Medium Residential Scheme category :
A nine-home luxury development on Briscoe Lane, Woodhouse, alongside Staniforth Architects, Keller Construction and Reynolds Property.
Lancaster House and York House, in Orton on the Hill, alongside Hayward Architects and Enviro Developments.
And are shortlisted in the Small Non-Residential category for:
A major extension and refurbishment at Sutton in the Elms Baptist Church, alongside Mayway Construction and Axon Architects.
JMS Civils Production Director Bhavin Parmar says:
“It’s been an incredible year, and I’m proud of the huge positive impact my team has had on so many residential and commercial developments. I think the innovation and hard work my team put into solving the unique challenges each project presented richly deserves the recognition they’re getting.”
Engineering Innovation
As ever with JMS, much of their work on these projects involved ensuring environmental impacts could be minimised, and each construction could take full advantage of modern environmentally friendly materials and renewable energy sources.
With the likes of solar panels, air source heat pumps, and modern insulation sympathetically woven into each architect’s vision, the people that live and use these buildings will enjoy lower energy bills, and a lower environmental impact too.
Of course, the team were also on hand to solve other issues that emerged during construction. When it looked likely established woodland would have to be felled to accommodate pathways for the development on Briscoe Lane, for example, JMS stepped up, and used an innovative ‘no dig’ construction technique. This enabled roots to be protected, and trees saved. Not only protecting the environment, but enabling the construction blend in with the existing properties in the village too.
JMS even innovated on their approach to pricing, allowing the Baptist Church to complete the project in stages, so they could find more time for fundraising rounds where necessary.

Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards dinner and ceremony on Thursday 10th November at The King Power Stadium.
