JMS Engineers delivered structural and civil engineering solutions for the new Pickerings Interfaces office building in Clacton-on-Sea. The structural design featured Westok Cellbeam technology, enabling long spans while integrating services through cellular openings. Composite construction with hollow-core slabs and in-situ concrete ensured load efficiency and fire resistance. Foundations were optimised with pad designs and concrete encasements for durability.
On the civil engineering front, a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) was implemented with cellular attenuation tanks to manage surface water and mitigate flooding risks. Permeable paving enhanced runoff reduction. The transformation of a 712m² industrial site into a 1200m² facility included compliant hard landscaping and utility integration.
With a focus on sustainability, the project incorporated roof-mounted photovoltaic panels and eco-friendly features, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable and functional design.
