JMS Engineers provided civil and structural engineering services for a development in Attleborough, Warwickshire, creating 14 assisted living apartments.
The project included designing wheelchair-accessible ground-floor apartments and providing access to additional apartments on the first floor via stairs and a lift. Due to the site's proximity to an existing pub, foundations were dug in sequence to minimise disruption.
On the eastern boundary, reinforced cantilevered ground beam foundations were implemented due to the close proximity to the highway. Additionally, an existing drain was diverted to accommodate the new development. Surface water management was achieved by restricting discharge into the Severn Trent Sewer, incorporating a below-ground attenuation tank and a flow control device.
